Kitten Clone: Inside Alcatel-Lucent
Douglas Coupland£25 ($40)
“I thought that the Internet was a metaphor for life; now I think life is a metaphor for the Internet.” — Douglas Coupland
“There are many places in the modern world that we do not understand because we cannot get inside them” — Alain de Botton
Book
The third book to be released as part of the Writers in Residence set is written by Canadian cultural literary giant Douglas Coupland. Coupland takes readers on a web surfing-inspired ride through Alcatel-Lucent — one of the largest global telecommunications companies in the world.
Coupland, with Magnum photographer Olivia Arthur, reports from inside Alcatel’s faceless corporate offices and wire-laden science labs, writing in his inimitably playful and insightful way about the wider cultural implications of the Internet and the affect Alcatel’s information technology has on each of our lives and the way we live.
A non-fiction spin of Microserfs meets J-Pod , here comes Coupland’s wildly funny meditation on the Internet, its future and our possible future within it, in ways we would only hope for and expect from Douglas Coupland.
