Great Looking Stories
Partnering up with the Ace Hotel Group was a great opportunity to create surprising reading experiences for hotel guests in a way that champions what Ace passionately stand by: working with brilliant local talent, being culturally innovative, creating unique experiences. And what better way to do that than going to bed with Ace.
Bedtime Stories with Ace Hotel launched in Autumn 2015 as a collaborative, cross-continental project which saw both London and Los Angeles based authors write and record their own bedtime stories for the new reading series and radio broadcast, exclusively available to Ace Hotel’s guests in London and Downtown Los Angeles.
We invited six local literary voices to explore bedtime stories for grownups — from raunchy escapades to claustrophobic fantasies to dreamy dog tales with original stories from London’s Zoe Pilger, Joanna Walsh and Will Self together with LA authors Brian DeLeeuw, Aimee Bender and Jessica Garrison.
In parallel, we commissioned London based design studio Julia to develop the project’s visual concept and design, launching the stories through live readings on Ace Hotel beds in the twilight hours of the Shoreditch lobby bar and the rooftop terrace in downtown LA, while also recording each of the six original stories in Ace’s hotel rooms to be broadcast on their dedicated Bedtime Stories channel on Revo radios in the hotel rooms.
